I'm asked by hosts/hostess of different events, all the time to either sponsor or vend at their event and I'd love to but if they can't give me at least 4 benefits of doing either of the two, I'm a little less likely to do it unless I've got the time to research their previous events to see if my demographic is there and if the event has had positive past reviews.

As a business owner, you & I are always on the hunt for really great opportunities to showcase our services but we have to be mindful of the things that are important to us and our business.  I mean truthfully, you can't just sponsor and event because the attendees meet one of your requirements.  It has to be more than that.  

If you're asked to sponsor or become a vendor for an event, make sure you take the suggestions I'm giving you into consideration and if you're hosting and upcoming event.  You may want to listen in and gleen from the this video.
