Episode seven - What to post - Back to School

You're listening to the Karmetic Content Creators podcast, where we teach
event planners and small business owners,  how to harness the power of
social media.

Good morning good afternoon good day, I'm your hostess,
Karma Oviquio aka K.O. the knockout specialist of social media and today
we’re talking, #BackToSchool.  That’s right back to school.
With less Than 3 weeks, some parents are already in purchase mode,
some parents are already preparing but there’s a huge portion of parents
who are like. “Oh my God, I am not prepared.   I’m not prepared for my child
to go off to college, I’m not prepared for my child’s first day of kindergarten,
I’ve not picked up supplies for my children.” All of that and that's where you
come in, because you and your business are the problem solvers for them.

Now with that being said, I'm going to give you a couple of ideas in regards
to what you can be talking about; like for me, I know that I'm going to spend
some time telling parents how to repurpose content so that they're not stuck
those first couple of weeks, trying to get their content out. so that they are you
know they can fall into a flow of helping their children after school, with homework
and or things of that nature.  I’m gonna also be talking about (now get this) I'm a
social media strategist, right? But I'm also going to be talking about meals that
you can put in the refrigerator. You know those grab-and-go, like mason jar salads.
so that you have the opportunity to spend more time with your children and or loved
ones, without missing a beat. So you’ve got your content already repurposed,
you’ve already come up with your ideas, you’ve got salads in the refrigerator,
everyone's happy, you can not sit down and have a  great meal then sit down
and spend quality with your significant other after dinner. You’re then able to
spend quality time for the kids to bed early relax talk to your spousal unit for
your significant other and then get back to the money, which is your social media.
Yep, that’s what I'm going to be talking about but let's just say you're a caterer,
maybe you can you can talk about, back to school meals, lunch prep?
But, let's take it a bit further than that. What about meal prep for busy parents,
meal prep for single parents, meal preps for dads who are raising their children
alone?  You’ll want to get real specific Niche it all the way down, you should
down as far as you possibly can okay? Another thing that you may want to
be talking about:

  • where's the best place to get the uniforms,
  • are there any mommy and me sales going on that maybe in your neighborhood,
  • are you offering a back to school special,
  • What you need to know about school supplies,
  • backpacks,

All of those types of things.  You can provide not only recipes but products that
will help your parents get organized and get right back into the flow of being
parents with school-age children.

Okay, maybe you're in the organization industry and you've been thinking about
creating lesson plans or maybe life plans?  What about cleaning hacks?
Or stain removers? It could be about holistic stain remover for the busy parent?
light time-saving tips how to let allow your children to sleep a little bit later but get
out of the door earlier, during the first two weeks of school or something like.
Remember, you want to be able to assist these families with the best school year
yet!
if your child or if your space your niche has college students it's the perfect time
to create articles or to go back and look and repurpose content that has to do with:

money saving,

being away from your parents for the first time,

creative ways to set up your dorm room,

different types of tech or apps that the student should have
on their phones you know to make their lives easier

how to create dinners in Instapot,

All the types of things for those college-age students.  A really great one though, are
things that they should have in their backpacks.  That's really a great one,
especially if the child is going to college for the first time. There are certain things
that they’ll need in those new backpack besides makeup, that they are not
aware of but they’ll need to be made aware.

So once again, that's your assignment for this evening.  Go back, look at content
that you can repurpose, that has the back-to-school theme.  And if you don't have
anything, start thinking about how you can repurpose older pieces of content and
then add in pieces of back to school content.   If you don’t have anything you can
repurpose, then it’s time to create a few pieces of content with the back-to-school theme.

That's it for today.  From my house to your house, I wish you all green eyes.  Namaste.

Episode 6 - How to engage your audience

SHOW NOTES

You're listening to The Karmetic Content Creators podcast where we teach event planners and small business owners how to harness the power of social media.

Good morning good afternoon, good day, I'm your hostess Karma Oviquio aka KO the knock out specialist of social media and today we're talking:  Engagement or the art of engaging post.

You hear it all the time, "Content is King!"  Well I'm here to tell you that this may be one of the truest statements you should remember when posting any form of content but the rest of that sentence, the MOST IMPORTANT part of that sentence has been left off.  So let me finish that sentence for you.  "Content is King but Engagement is the Queen, and everyone know that girls run the world!"  YEP, I said it and I've got data to back it up!  lol  Ok, let's move on with the topic

Why do you think people are on social media and why do they follow brands?  It's because we're social beings and we want to find the easiest way to connect to the people, brands and things that have become or will become a household name.  Now here is the kicker.  They may totally love your brand but they can go to your website for that and I'm sure they do, but they also follow you on social so they can see what you're really like, what you like and why you like it.  They actually make a conscious effort to follow you because they want to know you!

And this my friends is GOLD!  Why, because in getting to know you, they actually give you the opportunity to get to know them.  And the more you know about your followers, the more you can give them exactly what they need, what they don't know they need and what they'll probably need in the future.  So how do we do that?  Well that's the posting topic of the day.  And that is to open up the doors to your kingdom and let King Content and Queen Engagement do the work.

One way to do this is to pick a conversation starter and what better way to start a conversation is by asking a question?  But not just any question, the questions you'll ask, are questions that will help you learn what to post in the future and if you continue to ask questions throughout your social media journey, you'll not only learn what to post, you'll learn what day to post it, what time to post and quite a few other juicy tidbits.

To get you started, I created a handy little ebook with 48 conversational questions to ask.  You can get it by going to bit.ly/ask48questions  but if you're not into downloads, and want 20 quick questions you can use today, you can visit my blog, KarmaOviquio.com and look for episode SIX of  "What to Post.

When you start asking for engagement, please make sure to let me know.  I'd love to hear about your progress.

Episode 5 of What to Post

SHOW NOTES

You're listening to The Karmetic Content Creators podcast where we teach event planners and small business owners how to harness the power of social media.

Good morning good afternoon, good day, I'm your hostess Karma Oviquio aka KO the knock out specialist of social media and today we're talking Holiday sales.

Now I know you're probably thinking, K.O. it is the fourth quarter and I know that at the time of this broadcast, there are only 130 days before the "official" holiday sales begin.  So, can I at least get a few more days of summer, please?

NOPE!  We've got to talk about it now because I'm not talking about those type of holiday sales.  I'm talking about the holiday sales that retailers slip on you while you're scrolling through your apps looking for coupons or those subtle sales that they drop into your email almost weekly.

You know, those "made up sales."  The 70% off this week, Friends and Family-we're opening at 6am for you & your special guests or those really slick ones.  You saved $46 on this weeks purchase so here is a 40% coupon for your next visit.  Yeah, those.

One thing you can truly learn about retail is that they know the art of FOMO (fear of missing out) and they use it to their advantage daily.  So why can't you?

That's your content prompt for today.  Take a moment and think about what you can put on sale, what upcoming thing are you celebrating?  It could be a an anniversary, a wedding, heck  you favorite uncle might be turning 100 so you might offer one of your $497 programs for $100 while supplies last.  What ever the case might be, plan it out and make it happen.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
I need you to also realize that big box stores have endless inventory and because of that, they can have a sale on something everyday to draw people in.  You may not be able to do that.  And if that's you, don't make it a habit of having monthly sales because you'll train your audience to wait.

Well, that's it for today.  I want to know when you try this out so please drop me an email when you do!

You'll find the show notes over at www.KarmaOviquio.com under Episode 5 - What To Post.

You're not the only event planner or small business owner that has ever had a moment when their creative juices wouldn't flow. Fortunately, I'm here to share one of my content strategies.  And that's using "monthly observances."

How to sale your products and services without being "salesy"

Talking to a group of business women this morning and their number one "issue" as business owners was that they feel as though they aren't good sales people.  The 2nd "issue" is that they don't want to be known as the person who is always selling!

IS THAT YOU?  If it is, take this brief message, internalize it and then walk in your new mindset.

how to sale without selling

When ever you're present, whether that be online or in the terrestrial public, people are watching.  They watch how you act, if you're approachable, how you move in crowds and if you're a woman, unfortunately, they look at what you have on.  You can use all of that to your advantage.  And here is how:

1)  Start to wear comany branded clothing or at least wear your company colors.

2)  Have your own name tag.  The more it relates to your business, the better your exposure!

3)  Always have a freebie (something you know people want from you.)

4)  Whe you stand to give your 60 second elevator speech - say your name, your company name, what you do (remember what freebie you're offering needs to tie into that) and how to get the freebie!

5)  When online - make sure that every piece of content you have has a C.T.A. to whatever it is you're selling, what event you're hosting or what projects you're building.

That's it!  If you do this each and every time you're networking, you're selling with out saying "BUY."

Forever promoting,

K. O.

SEE YOU SOON!

New Snapchat update

Well, Snapchat is at it again and with these new updates, I can see a future of snapping great times.

The new update has actually made room for some additional icons and added 3 new features.  Let's take a quick look at how to use them.

You're now able to create a giph by tapping the loop button.

Want to remove an item in your snap?  Simply tap the scissors then the eraser, swipe over the item you'd like to disappear and viola, you'll never see it again.

One of my favorite features is the ability to draw with emojis. To do this, simply tap on your marker, and at the bottom of the color line, you'll see an emoji.  Tap on the emoji and you'll see a group of emojis that you can use to create shapes mad with the emoji chosen.

Do you use Facebook Stories?

What's the difference between Snapchat, Instagram stories and Facebook stories?

Facebook allows you to add an animated filter and or border before you start recording, while you can only add a border after taking your photo or video in Snapchat.

Instead of swiping right or left, like you do in Snapchat, you'll  swipe up or down to get to filters in Facebook.

If you can't find a filter you like in Facebook, you can swipe on the magic wand and it will bring up a list of additional filters.  You're not able to find additional filters in Snapchat but, you're able to make your own from previous photos (using the scissor tool).

You can see who viewed your story, within all apps.

Make sure to add everything you want to your story before you finish.  There is currently no way to go back in and edit.

Facebook stories allows you 20 seconds to tell your story, while Snapchat allows you, technically, 60 seconds.

If friends send you a DS (direct story), in Facebook, you're only allowed to see it twice before you're unable to watch it again.

I don't currently have a verdict about Facebook Stories and I've yet to hear any really great reviews from people who use Snapchat, that have tried Facebook stories but there is one thing that I really don't like about it and that is the fact that currently, you can't tell who took a screenshot.  This may change in the future?

Three Twitter tips to grow your Twitter following

Do you use #Twitter
How do you use it?
Want to know a few secret tips to Grow you Twitter following?

I've been on Twitter since 2009 but I've never used it to build relationships or as a true extention of my brand until recently.
Now that I'm on a mission to do both.  During the last two weeks of July 2017, I set out to grow my Twitter followers by
10 people each day, talk to previous followers, retweet at least twice daily and respond with one video.  Trust me, I do
understand that it may seem like a lot to do but if you're serious about being "present," on any social network, you've
got to put in the work!

To this date, August 2, 2017, I've grown my following by 100 and have built a strong relationship with three of the
people who have been following me for a while.  So strong, that I would refer them.  If you know me, you'd know that's
a BIG DEAL

OK, so without digressing, I'm going to give you a few tips.  Once you begin implementing them, please let me know how
you're doing with the process.  I love great success stories!

  1. Pin a Tweet.
  2. Learn to use advanced search.
  3. Direct message a thank you video
Why Pin a Tweet?  When you pin a tweet, with a photo or video, people get to know who you are and why you love what
you do.  Try to pin a tweet about an upcoming promo or tutorial.  Those have worked best for me.

I can't go on and on about Twitters advanced search feature but to keep this blog post brief, I'm just going to say that it
will help you eliminate a lot of "noise" when searching for new followers.

Whenever I've received a direct message in Twitter, before even opening it, I know that it's either a "hey, buy my new,
shiny thing!," or a Thanks for following, so I eventually get around to opening them but every once in a while, I get a video
response from someone and I immediately respond.  When I send a video thank you, my response rate for follow back is
around 40% higher than just a text message.

These are just a few of the things I've learned thus far.

Now, it's your turn to try a tip.  Once you've done it for 2 weeks, direct message me on Twitter @GreatPromos and tell
me how great is going!

How to grow your twitter following with these 3 tips

Facebook Poke

Do you remember the "poke" on Facebook?

It seems as if the Facebook poke may be returning.  It seems as if they are testing the "poke" in Europe but there is something different about it.  What's the difference?  Well, it seems as though they've actually added a geo-location feature, that signals friends in an area that you're in.  Does this remind you of another app?  Anyhow, it's currently called "wave."

If they bring it back to the U.S. there will be several ways that you can use it.
  1. You can disclose secret locations for events.
  2. Event organizers can use it to help people find the event location.
  3. You can use it during a tradeshow to help people find your booth (I'm thinking like huge locations, think Javitz, etc.)

If Facebook brings it back, how will you use waves?

Facebook Workplace

There are some really awesome things going on at Facebook and just last week, they introduced #FacebookWorkplace to the masses.  I was really surprised at how affordable it is.

Do you use Facebook Workplace?  If you do, I'd love to know how it's working for you and your employees.

When life serves you lemons

and you've already made lemonade, what do you do with the rest of the juice? A #KarmeticReality in the making...

Social media updates you should know about.

Did you know that Snap Inc has signed a deal to sell #Olympic filters during the winter games?  How major is that!

Periscope is getting a streaming analytics board.  I love the sound of this.  Think about it, the ability to see how each stream is performing, who viewed it, how to create better engagement using a "tweet"  oh boy!  That is going to be a wonderful thing.  Do you have any thoughts about it?  I'd love to hear what you think!  You'll also be able to place your "scopes," Periscope broadcasts in moments.

Facebook has also decided to open up ads in "stories" on the Instagram space.  Now, I hear that this due to the fact that they really don't have much more space for ads on Facebook. Hopefully, I'll have more info on this later.

How to ask for a referral.

Knowing when to ask for a referral is a big part of the challenge.  There are three ideal times to be in asking mode.

I
n the beginning:  Ask clients, friends & family, "Do you know anyone who is in need of the business I offer?"  It helps to plant a seed that may sprout at any moment.
While the iron is hot.  During the course of your project, when your client is "ecstatic about your work, remind them that you'd appreciat a referral.

At the close of business.  Your client is thrilled.  Tide that momentum and ask them to connect you witht the people they know.

You know promotion of your product or service is the only way that your clients and potential clients are going to find you and utilize your services.  You also know that a referral is better than just about any piece of marketing material you'll ever use right?
With this in mind, let's walk through a few self-promotion steps to get your company that extra added boost it needs.

Step 1:  Treat your clients like royalty!  Serving your clients and giving them exceptional work is the foundation of cultivating referrals.  Yes, it sounds very simple but a lot of business owners do just enough to get the job done.  In today's world with so many additional options, you can't afford to take the mediocre approach.  Do great and you'll have great.

Step 2:  Ask.  Every client you know either knows a potential client or someone who knows someone who needs your company.  Don't ask "Do you know some in the entertainment industry?"  Ask, Do you know anyone in the marketing department of ...?"  Be specific when asking them and they'll give you just the type of client referral you've been looking for.

Step 3:  Thank them.  When the client has been given the final finished product thank them for using your company.  Remember, your most happiest clients become an extension on your marketing dept. When they refer a client, thank them again for referring that client.  They'll feel greatly appreciated.

Step 4:  Infom.  You may not think it's necessary but if your clients have an idea of how the referral project went, they'll be happy to refer again.  No, you don't have to tell them every detail but making it a point to contact them and let them know how the project is coming helps to build bonafide relationships.

SUPERBOWL LI HASHTAGS

Did you know that you can't use the words Super Bowl to sell a product or service but you can use it in news stories and in general conversations.  Please be aware of that when using hashtags and posting on your social media channels.

For example you can say "We're hosting a Super Bowl at our house but you can't say The Official Super Bowl party at XYZ nor can you charge for a party with the words SUPER BOWL in the marketing.

Please be mindful of all copyright laws when promoting any franchise.  P.S. this is not intended to be legal advice.
